Tokyolite is an Indonesian funk pop band formed in Bogor. Started from a friendship
of Devin and Alex, somewhere in the middle of 2009, both of them decided to join
forces and doing a few jam.
After a few time later, former schoolmates of Alex, Stevan and Guruh shortly joined
afterwards, after one simple rehearsal, the whole band decided to bring one
additional keyboardist, and then Ghilman joined the group.
But after a few gigs and after some serious discussion, Devin quietly left the band for
chasing his own career as a gutarist. Leaving the band in this condition, these 3 guys
left trying to write their own songs, decided to put more of their original stuff on
their next gigs and strive their way onto wider and bigger places.
To be put it simply, these guys drawing influences from many places, such as funk,
punk, reggae, hip hop, rock and pop, mixed them down and put into one big white
board of musical ideas, you can say that sometimes they can boogie down up the
funk grooves but break it down and deliver some catchy choruses that guaranteed
to make you hum a bit the melodies.

Publishers Reel Art Press releases the first ever large format coffee table book, exploring how the Ivy look came into play on the West Coast. The Ivy look had stemmed off from the elite on the East Coast and steered itself over to Hollywood, where it was elevated to its peak. Featuring the laid back styles of Steve McQueen and Paul Newman to early prepsters such as Woody Allen and Dustin Hoffman, the book aims to take inspiration from early twentieth century Hollywood stars and see how this style has sustained itself over the years. Another highlight of the book would be the on and off-screen stills from classic movies that helped broaden the reach of the Ivy look, including shots on the set of Psycho, The Graduate and The Odd Couple. Releasing in late November, Hollywood and the Ivy Look will be available via select stockists.
